SQUASH / RACKETBALL
Squash, and more recently racketball, have been the main stay of the Club for several decades. The four heated indoor courts are always well maintained, giving players the best possible conditions for play. There are internal leagues for both squash & racketball, plus we have teams playing in Surrey Cup and Vets Surrey Cup. We run club tournaments twice a year, which are well attended and bring out the best in our members.
We have a friendly approach to tennis at ASTC and welcome tennis players of all ages and abilities. Our two hard courts are busy with club sessions, cardio tennis, group and private coaching for all ages from tots to seniors. For the more competitive player, we enter teams in both Wilson Surrey and Dorking and Leatherhead Leagues as well as running our summer club championships and winter tournaments.
We are delighted to have added a Padel court to the Club in October 2020. The take up by existing members has been huge, together with a healthy influx of new 'Padel only' members. Padel is the fastest growing racket sport in the World and has really started to take off here in the UK.
We recently held our first Padel Club Championships and our internal Padel league will start up at the end of October 2021.
The club bar and lounge area is at the heart of our Club, in more ways than one. Our four squash/racketball courts are arranged around the outside of this bar area, which makes for a highly social and interactive meeting point. Social only membership is available at a modest cost which gives access to the bar, sports TV and our golf society.
The Club's golf society is extremely popular. Each year we visit many of the local courses, including: Tyrrells Wood, Clandon Regis, Surrey Downs, Woodcote Park, Betchworth, Milford and several more. There are normally at least 8 fixtures per year from March to December. All you need is to be a social member of the Club to participate in the golf days.
JoCo Dance & Theatre Arts run children's dance classes for toddlers up to the age of 16 years. The classes are run in our purpose built upstairs studio which is air conditioned, with a mirrored wall and ballet rail. Please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.jocodance.com to see JoCo's full range of activities.
The 150 Club is an independently run section of the Club which raises funds for special projects at the Club. Members can purchase numbers from 1 to 149 for a monthly subscription cost of £5 per number. Each month, numbers are drawn and prizes awarded from £20 to £150 with two additional £500 draws in February and August. There is also a monthly attendance prize. Please see link below for the rules, prize fund structure and recent items funded by The 150 Club.
We have two large screen sports TV's, which can be independently programmed. We subscribe to Sky and BT Sports channels which means we have all the highest profile sports coverage available, this includes all major sporting events such as football, golf, rugby, tennis, motor racing and much more. The bar/TV opening hours are: Weekdays 5.30pm to 10.00pm (until 10:30pm on Fridays), Saturday 12.00pm to 8.00pm and Sunday 12.00pm to 10.00pm.
If you are looking to celebrate a special event, why not consider doing so at our Club. The bar and club facilities are presented to the highest standard, professionally run and can be hired at a reasonable cost. In addition, there is ample safe off street parking.
